Researchers from the Mayo clinic have foung that PTEN is not a reliable marker of mTOR kinase inhibitor sensitivity in glioblastoma multiforme xenografts treated with RAD001 (everolimus).

Novartis have accelerated its filing schedule for mTOR kinase inhibitor RAD001 (everolimus) after Phase III data showed the drug to double progression-free survival in metastatic kidney cancer. Novartis expect to file its submission by July and aim for a 2009 launch.

Boehringer Ingelheims VEGFR/PDGFR/FGFR kinase inhbitor BIBF-1120 has been shown to demonstrate anti-angiogenic properties in vivo in mouse xenograft and syngeneic rat tumor models. Magnetic resonance imaging shows the drug to reduce blood vessel density and integrity.
