GSK have responded to the NICE recommendationi that Tyverb (lapatinib) should not be used in the NHS, except in clinical trials. The company says “we strongly believe that the wrong decision has been made for patients, doctors and the NHS”

Novartis have published preclinical information on its EGFR/VEGFR inhibitor AEE788 in the New England Journal of Medicine. IC50s were found to be 2nM for EGFR/VEGF receptor tyrosine kinases and 6 nM for ErbB2

GlaxoSmithKline have received a conditional marketing authorisation from the european autorities for lapatinib (Tyverb, Tykerb). The approval is for the use of lapatinib in advanced or metastatic HER2 positive breast cancer in combination with capecitabine.
