GSK respond to negative NICE recommendation on Tykerb

GSK have responded to the NICE recommendationi that Tyverb (lapatinib) should not be used in the NHS, except in clinical trials. The company says “we strongly believe that the wrong decision has been made for patients, doctors and the NHS”

Tykerb receives conditional EU marketing approval for HER2 breast cancer

GlaxoSmithKline have received a conditional marketing authorisation from the european autorities for lapatinib (Tyverb, Tykerb). The approval is for the use of lapatinib in advanced or metastatic HER2 positive breast cancer in combination with capecitabine.
